No one would ever guess - but they're about to find out. It's that he's the lead singer in a band of pop-punk-rock misfits slowly gaining popularity on the local underground music scene. It's not that he's a villain, or a vigilante, or a secret lovechild. No one would ever guess he was living a double life.

It relates the light flux to the beam angle of a light source. Light intensity is one of the photometric quantities. Since the radiation behavior of an optical signaling device is not only determined by the light source but also by the design of the domes, the luminous intensity is best suited to characterize the signaling effect of optical signaling devices. The luminous intensity is a photometric value that describes the radiation of light emitted in a certain direction. What is light intensity (candela definition)? Exemplary lumen values: Fluorescent tube (48 Watt)Įxamples of the luminous efficacy of different lamps: Incadescent lamps The higher the value, the more efficient a light source is. It is the ratio of lumens to power or watts, so it is measured in lumen per watt (lm/W) in the International System of Units (SI). The luminous efficacy is a measure that indicates how efficient a light source is. Compact fluorescent lamp/energy-saving lamp: with 15 W electrical power: luminous flux Φ = 900 lm Incandescent lamp with 15 W electrical power: luminous flux Φ = 90 lm Two examples of typical luminous flux values: Short wavelengths are termed ultraviolet and longer waves are termed infrared. How bright and colourful the human eye can perceive a light depends on the wavelength of the radiation and the intensity with which the radiation hits the retina. When visible light is emitted, this is also called luminescence. Light is created when energy is converted. They travel in waves and transmit energy impulses. Light consists of photons, also called light particles. The total luminous flux emitted by a light source over a certain period of time. The ratio of emitted luminous flux to required electrical power. The measure for the impression of brightness of a surface, perceived by the human eye. The measure for the light that arrives at a receiver surface. Gives information about how much light is radiated in a certain direction. The measure for the total amount of light emitted by a light source. The following table provides an overview of the most important photometric quantities and units: Photometrische Größe In light measurement, a distinction is made between various photometric quantities by which the unit of light intensity can be evaluated.

It's the library, for crap's sake! I could'a read it and ditched it if no good, but noooooo. I can't remember what the book title was, but I remember reading bad reviews from GR peeps and thought, "Nah, maybe later" and put the poor baby back on the shelf. I was checking GR against some library selections a bit ago and had to laugh. I also use Passwords Plus software to save everything b/c I have early-onset Alzheimers and need something to help my feeble brain most days. LuLu, very cool (software), I use Firefox and have it save my login/pswds for me (most times). I'll continue to post any new spots I find that might help with the daunting task and allow us more time to actually read. It's just nice knowing I'm not alone in tracking and hope everyone finds/has a way that works well for them. Jenny, it's pretty quick/easy to update your series on FictFact, hopefully you'll breeze right through it and have plenty of time left to read. My GR shelves do not hold even 25% of what I have TBR and it's already overwhelming to look at. But, I do back it up, so hopefully it'll be with me for many years to come. But, I'm secure in that I have my "master list" on-going in BookPedia (desktop software with sync to my iTouch for quick on-the-go shopping reference). I agree though, all things have their time and pass in the wind. Mainly b/c I like to be able to mark off as I go (OCD list-marker, that's me!). From there, BookPedia, then GR and FictFact too.Ĭher, I have a notebook where I track my challenges. That just got too large at some point and I moved onto an Excel spreadsheet. In fact, I'm sure I still have a ton on my "Books 2 Buy" or "Books 2 Consider" wish lists on Amazon. LooLoo and Judithe, I used to do that too. Some of our members are on FictFact, find them here: * Misc iApps offered by Apple (examples: Book Crawler and BooksApp) * - Book Collector, a Mac & Windows database (with iPod App available) * - BookPedia, a Mac only database (with iPod export option) * MS Excel/Personal Notebook - good ole spreadsheets and handwritten notes do the job well too * - Online series tracker free to join with email reminders for upcoming releases in series you're reading They do send me emails when new releases come out for a series I've added to my list.ĭo you use a software program, GoodReads mainly or a good 'ole fashion notebook? * Stay up to date with all the wonderful things coming soon to FictFact! * Get a custom queue of the next book in each series to easily read books in the correct order * Pick your favorite series to track and get notifications of updates and new additions I'm loving it so far! Their site says, "Why Register? I stumbled upon this site FictFact last year and added a few here too, just to see how it worked. It's a pain setting it up initially (although adding books is pretty easy, it was the # of books to add that takes a while), but once you do, adding add'l books is a breeze. I think I might actually shed tears if I ever lost that data. It allows you to do MANY, many things like create mini custom libraries (ie: Challenge lists, Wish Lists, etc) mark books as "borrowed" (which I actually use to mark the beginning-end dates of challenges I'm participating in) search/view/organize by anything in the book data (author, title, subject, summary, cover image, ISBN fields, etc). I also have a OCD's life-saving program on my laptop called BookPedia which tracks every single book I have TBR and a large majority of the books I've read. I have a list posted on RRR Group, my "Series Madness List" where I try to keep track of what books in a series I have left to read in order to catch up. Have I mentioned my teeny tiny OCD issue? Well, I LOVE lists, so it should be no surprise that I have several ways I track my series (read and TBR). Your attic is a great place for squirrels to reproduce. But what are they really using your home for? Your house is great, that's why you chose to live there, so it should come as no surprise that animals are trying to break in. Squirrel droppings can cause salmonella, and decomposing animals can spread disease and encourage infestation of more repulsive pests. Health: Decomposing squirrel bodies, or rotting excrement can cause lots of health hazards to your family. Squirrels can also get trapped or fall into your walls and die, which will also cause an awful smell in your home. Odors and Eyesores: It might come as a surprise, but copious urination and defecation building up in your attic and being absorbed by your insulation does not smell good! Your house will smell like squirrel excrement, and they will leave stains all over your attic floor which can be very expensive to clean. If squirrels get in your attic they will urinate and defecate on your insulation ruining it and requiring it to be replaced. This saves you money on energy bills and keeps you feeling more comfortable in your home. It helps block heat from entering during the warmer months, and holds heat in during the colder months. Insulation: You know all that fluffy pink stuff in your attic? It's really important! The insulation in your attic is crucial in temperature regulation in your home. With the outside of your home exposed and damaged, you are much more vulnerable to damage from water leaks and flooding. The longer that squirrels live in your attic the more holes they will chew. Gnawing on your siding, or chewing holes around the outside of the attic. This means that they probably did some exterior damage to your home to find their way inside. Squirrels chewing on your wires could even cause a fire in your attic.Įxterior: Squirrels have to get in from somewhere. This means bad news for your wiring, siding, and wood. Like any other rodents, their front teeth are constantly growing and they are looking for objects to grind them down. Wiring: There are lots of essential wires in your attic that squirrels will love to chew on. Still on the squirrels' side? Think you might be ok with leasing out your attic to these critters rent free? Well here are some ways they are posing threats to your home and wellbeing, we hope this changes your mind. Sounds cute, right? Those little fluffy tailed creatures making a home out of your home is more dangerous than you may think. Those noises are probably coming from squirrels. Are you hearing scratching, scurrying, and weird noises coming from your attic? You're not going nuts, but there might be some in your attic. The NEXTBOOK runs Android 1.5 with a proprietary interface it’s a cross between a traditional Android homescreen and an ebook reader. So that’s the NEXTBOOK hardware what about software? And since there isn’t really a big case market except for brand-name devices like the Dell Streak and the Galaxy Tab, I always appreciate when manufacturers include one as an accessory. While it drives me nuts that the NEXTBOOK doesn’t stay secured (it falls out the unclipped side), a bit of velcro would fix that nicely. It has clips on three sides and closes with a magnetic clasp. One nice feature is that the NEXTBOOK comes with a pleather protective case. The biggest issue is that anything other than viewing it head on looks pretty bad, so I wouldn’t use it for shared video watching or anything where you might be viewing from an angle. It’s not going to match what you might get from a NOOKcolor or an iPad, but it has good color depth and books look great. It’s made of plastic, but it feels nicely built. The device itself is thin and nicely weighted. The NEXTBOOK did come with a small stylus, but in a fit of perplexing design, there’s no place to store it in the device or the included case. I had a few instances where it seemed like it took more than one touch to register. For a resistive screen, it’s not terrible with just your fingers, though it’s not great either. There’s also a power button, headphone jack, charger and mini-USB ports and a slot for an SD card as well. However, the E FUN does have physical page turn buttons on the left and right side, making it a bit easier to read than with usual resistive touchscreens. Instead of physical home, menu and back buttons, those are virtual and built into the custom home launcher. The E FUN tablet is a bit of an unusual Android device. Is it worth pursuing over a NOOKcolor or an iPad? Read on for my full review! One of the newest (and most budget-conscious) of these devices is the E FUN NEXTBOOK tablet, a reading-oriented tablet with Borders eBookstore integration. Some of these are relatively generic tablets, but lately, we’ve seen a rash of tablet-esque devices designed around the reading experience. Everyone and their brother seemed to be offering one, but those projects quickly gave way to a veritable army of Android-based tablets after the iPad was released. The Challenger 2 is the main tank currently being used today by the British military in combat situations. Find out where else the UK Armed Forces are. The Challenger 2 forms the core of the Armys heavy tank units today. The Challenger II needs new, uprated engines, new fire control systems, and a new 120-millimeter main gun to match the gun on U.S. Their presence makes it clear that any attack on one ally will be considered an attack on the whole NATO alliance. The Challenger II, originally one of the best tanks in NATO, hasn’t received a steady stream of upgrades the way the American M1A2 Abrams has and is considered obsolete by today’s standards. The proposal would see the British Army’s 227 Challenger II main battle tanks eliminated from its force structure. The move would follow in the footsteps of the Netherlands, a country that eliminated-and then quickly rebuilt-its tank force. Instead, the British Army would concentrate on space and cyber warfare, as well as contributing helicopters and airmobile troops to any NATO fighting force. The shocker would end more than 100 years of development and deployment by the very country that invented the tank. The Challenger II needs new, uprated engines, new fire. We have listed below the ten most technologically advanced and sophisticated tanks in the world in 2022. Neville posts a picture daily of a new garment design on his Instagram feed, as proof he is on track. Neville devised the challenge because he felt overwhelmed by the business part of his studio and wanted to get back to his passion: designing. Some days, he sews two, three, or even five pieces for the challenge. He calls it “100 Designs in 100 Days.” though it does not need to be one design every day. In early 2018, Neville created a yearly challenge for himself that is designed to force creativity. Mannequins in bright, fashionable looks attract customers to Neville’s storefront. Often, his clothes feature classic silhouettes with unexpected design elements such as seams, darts, or drapes that keep the garments looking fresh. “Coming up with unique ways of making clothes is also very much a part of my aesthetic,” Neville says. Part of him loves clean lines, but he also likes to create clothes that are fun and interesting. Neville describes his design aesthetic as a duality. When he really has no idea what to create, Neville has one foolproof method: “I close my eyes and use my scissors to just cut and then whatever shape that is, I’ll weave it into something.” He plays with a fabric to see what it wants to do. When asked what his creative process is like, Neville explains that it varies. Sewing is a way for Neville to center himself while working through finances, designs, or whatever else is in his head. It’s about mindfulness and taking the time to sort through his thoughts. “The process of sewing and stitching fabric together is very therapeutic for me,” he says. “My mother made clothes for us, but I didn’t really love the clothes that she was making,” he says, “I wanted to make my own stuff.”įor him, sewing is not simply about a craft or about creating something.
